What is a coursework? A coursework is an independent, written, scholarly investigation by the student, dealing with the issues of concern on a chosen topic and deriving an answer to them. The coursework is written under the supervision of the supervisor. Structure After familiarising yourself with the concept, a heap of questions immediately arise concerning the design. One of the main differences between a coursework and all reports and essays is its strictly defined structure. Coursework must contain certain sections: A title page; Contents (1-2 sheets); Introduction to the topic (goals and objectives); The main part (introduction to the main definitions, reasoning on the topic); A practical part (research, some calculations, surveys and so on); A conclusion (if a problem is considered, a solution); List of references (not only paper sources, but also internet resources); Annexes (you can insert sheets with surveys, tables with calculations, etc.) Coursework with practice From the second year, students begin to undertake work practice at various enterprises. Upon its completion, students must complete a specific assignment. The coursework with internship is a report that contains no more theory, but rather the result of the internship. The structure of such a coursework does not differ much from that described above. The only difference is that the student needs to familiarize the examiner with the activities of the company where he or she was interned, attaching various real-life examples to the theoretical part. To summarise, the student has to show what he/she has learned and what he/she has achieved by working for a few weeks in his/her speciality. The role of coursework in the educational process Despite the fact that students dislike this type of reporting so much, coursework is a great way not only to develop new skills and abilities, but also to deepen their knowledge of the subject material. There are far more pros than cons to writing this type of control. Positive aspects of coursework: When choosing a topic for a coursework, the student is forced to read a huge amount of material, weigh the pros and cons, find what he can "latch on" to. Such analysis has a positive impact on the student's ability to think and select information; Coursework is a creative and interesting process. If a student chooses a topic he or she likes and works on it, it will contribute to getting a good mark; Coursework - a quarter of a diploma thesis. Very often students take their best "coursework" and extend it to the extent of a diploma.
